About AltexSoft

We are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join one of our client projects in the healthcare sector. The role involves designing, building, and scaling large-scale data pipelines that support analytics and machine learning nationwide. 

About Project

You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, observability, and performance of cloud-based pipelines, while working closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams.

You Have

  •  5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, ETL, or data platform development (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, PySpark) for ETL and data transformation; 
  • Expertise in distributed data processing with Spark (AWS EMR or EKS)
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining data lakes or Lakehouse architectures (e.g., S3 + Glue + Lake Formation, Delta Lake, or Iceberg)
  • Strong SQL knowledge; experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and at least one AWS-based cloud warehouse (Snowflake or Redshift)
  • Workflow orchestration experience with Airflow (MWAA)
  • Deep knowledge of AWS ecosystem: S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, Step Functions, ECS, CloudWatch
  • Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform; familiarity with Docker, ECS, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with monitoring, validation, and alerting systems (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog)
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in day-to-day development tasks

Would be a plus

  • Knowledge of Scala or Java
  • Experience building AI-powered solutions or integrating AI pipelines/APIs into software projects
  • Background in healthcare, compliance-heavy industries, or other regulated environments
  • Familiarity with streaming data ingestion frameworks and event-driven architecture
  • Native Ukrainian is an advantage

You Are Going To

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL, orchestrated with Airflow
  • Develop and manage the client’s Lakehouse on AWS, ensuring governance, accessibility, and data quality
  • Run and optimize distributed Spark jobs on AWS EMR/EKS
  • Implement ingestion frameworks for APIs, event streams, and batch pipelines
  • Apply robust validation and quality checks across all data flows to support accurate analytics and ML readiness
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipelines using CloudWatch and integrated observability tools
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and follow infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Work across multiple warehouses (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake) to ensure efficient integrations
  • Participate in on-call rotation for pipeline health, ensuring reliability and minimal downtime
  • Contribute clean, production-grade code and actively participate in design and code reviews
