About AltexSoft

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Java) with deep expertise in the airline Passenger Service System (PSS) domain to help develop and evolve a cloud-native airline retailing platform. You’ll use your hands-on experience across reservations, ticketing, inventory, schedules, fares and distribution to help bridge traditional airline PSS capabilities with modern Offer/Order retailing models.

About Project

The role combines hands-on software engineering with complex airline-domain challenges. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Architects and other engineers to design and own scalable solutions, while improving the performance, reliability and maintainability of existing services. AI coding assistants are part of the everyday engineering workflow, and we expect engineers to be comfortable incorporating AI-assisted development into their engineering practices.

You Have

  • 7+ years of professional experience with Java Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices
  • Solid experience building and integrating REST APIs
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms; AWS is preferred
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, clean code and automated testing
  • Experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken Airline Passenger Service Systems (PSS)
  • Extensive hands-on experience building digital solutions within the airline PSS domain
  • Strong understanding of Reservations, including PNRs and End-of-Transaction (EoT) processing
  • Experience with Ticketing, including E-Tickets and EMDs
  • Experience with airline Schedules, including SSIM, ASM and ASS setup, maintenance and distribution
  • Experience with Inventory, including RBD setup, maintenance and distribution
  • Strong understanding of Fares & Pricing, including fare filing and ATPCO
  • Experience with airline Distribution, including EDIFACT and TTY messaging

Would be a plus

  • Knowledge of IATA standards, PADIS messaging, PNRGOV and related airline data formats
  • Experience with NDC and Offer/Order (ONE Order) retailing models
  • Experience with Departure Control Systems (DCS), including check-in, weight & balance and load control
  • Experience with GDS connectivity, such as Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport
  • Experience designing distributed and event-driven systems
  • Awareness of PCI-DSS and GDPR requirements for handling passenger data
  • AWS certification
  • Curiosity and practical experience with AI-assisted software development

You Are Going To

  • Design, develop and evolve Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
  • Build and integrate REST APIs and cloud-native services.
  • Work on core airline PSS capabilities, including reservations, ticketing, inventory, schedules, fares and distribution.
  • Help bridge legacy PSS capabilities with modern Offer/Order (OOSD) retailing architectures.
  • Design solutions for airline-grade requirements such as high availability, scalability, performance and transactional integrity.
  • Work with Product Managers and Architects to translate complex business and domain requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Analyze and improve existing services, including performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
  • Contribute to technical decisions, architecture discussions and engineering best practices.
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools as part of the daily software development lifecycle.
