About Project
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong Databricks experience and German at B2 or above. Our client is an enterprise in the DACH region that is moving its analytics workloads to Databricks. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll design, build and run the batch and streaming pipelines behind that platform, model the data for analytics, and own the reliability of everything you put into production. You'll work with the client's own engineers and business stakeholders in German, gathering requirements, walking them through reviews and demos, and agreeing the technical decisions with them. As the team on the account grows, you'll review the work of other engineers and help them get up to speed. In this position, you'll collaborate with a team of experienced data engineers, solution architects and analysts, working within a fully functional development team within our company. The engagement is full-time and remote, and contracts on this account typically run 6 to 12 months.
You Have
- 5+ years in data engineering
- Databricks in production
- Python and SQL
- Spark, batch and streaming; performance tuning and cost control on Databricks
- Delta Lake, layered data models, job orchestration in Databricks
- Azure. AWS experience is fine too
- CI/CD for pipelines, basic infrastructure as code, Git
- German B2 or above.
- English B2 or above
Would be a plus
- Databricks certification (Data Engineer Associate or Professional)
- Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, Databricks Asset Bundles
- Migration from Azure Synapse, Cloudera, SAP BW, Oracle or Snowflake - dbt, Airflow, Kafka or Event Hubs

- Own the reliability of the pipelines you build
- Work with the client's German-speaking engineers and business people: requirements, reviews, demos
- Review the work of other engineers on the account as the team grows
