Shiji and FreedomPay Push One Device for Faster Hotel Service

Untitled design

Shiji and FreedomPay announced the next stage of their partnership. The companies are introducing an all-in-one payment and point-of-sale model for large hotel groups.

The setup connects Shiji’s Infrasys POS, Astral Payments, and FreedomPay’s commerce platform. Together, they allow hotel staff to manage ordering and payment through one workflow, instead of using separate systems or devices.

This is mainly an operational update. It is designed for hotels, resorts, and hospitality groups that handle payments across restaurants, bars, event spaces, lounges, and other guest areas.

Staff can order and take payment on one device

The main idea is simple. A staff member can take an order, update the check, split the bill, and accept payment on one mobile device.

This can be useful in hotels where service happens across many spaces. A guest may order at a restaurant, pay near the pool, or settle a bill during an event. If employees need to move between an ordering system and a payment terminal, service can slow down.

With one connected device, staff can complete the transaction where the guest is. This can reduce waiting time, limit mistakes, and make service feel smoother.

Hotel groups need simpler payment workflows

Large hotel groups often manage many properties, brands, and revenue centers. A single hotel may process payments for rooms, food and beverage, meetings, spa services, and leisure activities.

When each area uses different systems, operations become harder to manage. By bringing POS and payments closer together, Shiji and FreedomPay want to make these processes more consistent. Hotels can still keep local flexibility, but the basic payment flow becomes easier to control across different outlets and properties.

Payments are becoming part of guest service

Payments are no longer just the final step after a meal or hotel stay. They are now part of the guest experience.

If payment is slow or confusing, it can leave a bad impression even after good service. This is why hotels are paying more attention to mobile POS, pay-at-table options, digital wallets, and integrated payment reporting.

The Shiji and FreedomPay update follows the same direction seen across hotel technology. Recently, Mews raised $300M and said it would use the funding to expand its AI and fintech capabilities. That deal shows how hospitality tech companies are moving beyond basic property management and booking tools.
