Wizz Air Expands “WIZZ Class” Across Its Network After Strong Trial Demand, Expect More Premium Add-ons On Low Fares

Wizz Air, a major European low-cost airline, announced it will extend its “WIZZ Class” premium seating option across its whole network after a trial that it says performed better than expected.

In January 2026, Wizz Air launched WIZZ Class as a bookable option on a limited set of routes (with an empty middle seat in the first row plus small perks).

The product was tested on selected flights from bases including Budapest, Bucharest Otopeni, Warsaw, London Luton, London Gatwick, and Rome Fiumicino. Wizz says the early take-up, especially among business travelers, was strong enough to justify a wider rollout.

WIZZ Class explained: more space, no cabin overhaul

This is not a new business-class cabin. Instead, Wizz sells a small “premium” zone at the front of the plane by blocking the middle seat in the first row, so the remaining seats feel more spacious and private. The offering includes a complimentary drink and snack, and it can be purchased as an add-on (often alongside certain fare bundles). The key point for a low-cost airline is that it doesn’t require a cabin rebuild—Wizz can offer a comfort upgrade while keeping the layout that supports low base fares.

Why this matters: low-cost airlines chase premium extras

For travelers, this is another sign that low-cost carriers are leaning into “pay-for-comfort” options: keep the headline fare low, then offer upgrades for passengers who want more space and fewer compromises. For the airline, it’s also a revenue move at a time when Wizz is working through operational pressure from Pratt & Whitney GTF/PW1100G engine inspections, which have grounded aircraft and complicated growth plans. Wizz says groundings have been improving, but the disruption has been material and is still a factor to watch.

Expect WIZZ Class to roll out gradually across more routes as Wizz scales the offer network-wide.
