Waterford Hotel Group and Maverick Hotels & Restaurants have announced a merger that brings together their combined portfolio of more than 50 properties across the United States.

The partnership is designed to accelerate growth and expand their reach into key regions such as Chicago, New England, the Eastern US, South Central states, and the Midwest.

The combined company blends Waterford’s experience operating full-service hotels, convention centers, and boutique inns with Maverick’s background in managing urban, lifestyle, and mixed-use properties.

Their shared portfolio includes major global brands such as Marriott and Hilton as well as independent hotels, allowing the organization to serve a wide range of travelers and market segments.

Executives from both companies stated that the merger surpasses previous growth targets, such as reaching 50 hotels earlier than expected. They believe the larger scale will position the company to pursue new acquisitions, secure additional management contracts, and invest in property upgrades in high-demand markets.

For now, no major leadership or organizational changes are planned. Instead, teams from both companies will spend the next year integrating systems and operations in a way that maintains stability for employees, owners, and guests.

The merger comes at a time when US hotels continue to recover from the sharp declines of the pandemic years. Travel demand has strengthened across both leisure and business segments, and investor interest in hospitality assets has returned.

One example is Blackstone’s recent $130 million acquisition of the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, a transaction widely viewed as a sign of renewed confidence in the city’s downtown hospitality sector.
