Direct fare

Direct fare is the price applied to one-way or half round-trip travel between two spots using the direct routing operated by a carrier.

It represents the base fare between the origin and destination without constructing the journey through separate intermediate fares or more complex routing combinations.

Direct fares are commonly used in airline pricing systems as fundamental building blocks for fare construction and comparison.

They are also important in international fare construction because they may be used to determine whether additional pricing rules, such as Higher Intermediate Point (HIP) or mileage surcharges, apply.
