Ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC)

An ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) is an airline that offers very low ticket prices to passengers.

Many services that full-service carriers (FSCs) typically include in their fares, such as checked luggage, seat selection, food, and entertainment, are either charged separately by an ULCC or not offered at all. This allows ULCCs to attract price-sensitive travelers willing to give up amenities in exchange for lower fares.

For example, Spirit Airlines, based in the US, offers some of the lowest base fares in the industry and charges passengers for almost every additional service.
