Minimum length of stay (MinLOS)

Minimum length of stay (MinLOS) or minimum stay is a booking restriction set by a hotel, resort, vacation rental, or other lodging provider that requires guests to reserve a unit for at least a specified number of consecutive nights.

Guests staying longer are likely to spend more on food and beverage services and amenities. A one-night stay could block a room needed for a multi-night stay.

MinLOS policies allow properties to secure higher occupancy with fewer reservations, reducing complexity in scheduling, maintenance, and guest management.

Properties may adjust minimum‑stay requirements dynamically by raising them around holidays, weekends, or special events, and relaxing them during off‑peak periods.
