Complimentaries

Complimentaries, often shortened to comps, are free goods or services provided by hotels, airlines, or travel businesses as part of promotions or to build customer loyalty. For example, a hotel might provide a complimentary continental breakfast, free room upgrade, or late check-out to reward loyal customers or encourage positive reviews.

Comps are often used by hospitality businesses to enhance guest satisfaction, especially in properties such as 4-star and 5-star hotels, where additional services are expected as part of the guest experience. Airlines may also offer complimentary perks like lounge access or seat upgrades, particularly to frequent flyers or business travelers.

For group bookings or block allocations, a hotel might offer one complimentary room for every 20 rooms booked as part of a negotiated deal with travel management companies (TMCs) or event organizers. These extras help travel businesses differentiate themselves and strengthen their relationships with customers.
