Closed to arrival (CTA)
Closed to arrival (CTA) is a hotel revenue management strategy that prevents guests from checking in on specific dates, even if the hotel still has rooms available.
While guests may not check in on a CTA date, they can still stay through it if they arrive earlier.
CTA helps better control demand, manage occupancy patterns, and avoid inefficient bookings that might prevent longer, more profitable stays.
For example, if a hotel expects to be fully occupied on a weekend, it may block bookings with check-ins on Saturday to capture longer bookings starting Friday or earlier in the week. CTA helps prioritize multi-night bookings that span high-demand dates and avoid undesirable gaps in occupancy.
