Arrival Unknown (ARNK)
Arrival Unknown (ARNK) is an indicator in a PNR that shows a gap in flight continuity between two segments. It signals that the passenger will arrive at one location and depart from another, and the transportation between the two points is not specified in the itinerary.
ARNK clarifies that the traveler is making their own way between the two segments. It is commonly used to manage complex itineraries, especially those involving multi-city trips or open-jaw tickets.
For example, a traveler is flying from San Francisco to Washington Dulles, and then from Philadelphia to San Francisco. The PNR would show
- SFO → IAD;
- ARNK;
- PHL → SFO.
The goal is to maintain itinerary continuity and ensure that each leg of the journey is accounted for, even if no flight connects the points.
