Southwest Airlines Adds EVA Air to Interline Partners

Southwest Airlines has announced a new interline agreement with Taiwan’s EVA Air, a Star Alliance member. The deal will allow passengers to connect seamlessly between Southwest’s large US domestic route map and EVA Air’s transpacific services.
For decades, Southwest avoided interline and codeshare partnerships, preferring to keep its operations independent. That strategy has shifted as the airline seeks to remain competitive with US rivals like American, Delta, and United, which already offer global connectivity through alliances. For example, earlier in August, American Airlines signed an interline agreement with STARLUX.
Earlier in 2025, Southwest entered interline agreements with Icelandair and China Airlines.
Under the new partnership, EVA Air and Southwest will coordinate operations at shared US gateway airports, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago.
