Amex GBT Launches New Egencia for Easier Travel and Expense Tasks

American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has launched a new version of Egencia, its corporate travel platform, with two main additions: a conversational AI assistant and a direct integration with Concur Expense.

The update is designed to make business travel easier to book and manage. It also aims to reduce the extra work that often comes after booking, when travelers still need to collect receipts and complete expense reports in a separate system.

AI is now part of the booking experience

The new platform includes Egencia AI, which lets travelers ask questions and manage trips in a more natural, conversational way. Instead of only using a standard search flow, users can interact with the platform more like they are chatting with an assistant.

Amex GBT said the tool also works inside Microsoft Teams. That shows a wider shift in travel technology, where companies are trying to place booking tools inside the work platforms employees already use every day.

The Concur integration targets a common business travel problem

A key part of the launch is the native integration with Concur Expense. Amex GBT said booking details and receipts can now move into expense reports almost immediately.

By connecting booking and expense more closely, Amex GBT is trying to reduce manual work and improve reporting for companies.

Egencia also gets a simpler design

The company has also refreshed the platform’s user experience. The new version includes a simpler search form and the ability to show multiple fares for one flight.

The update is part of a wider platform strategy

This launch is not just a product refresh. It also reflects Amex GBT’s broader plan to connect its travel, service, and expense tools more closely. The company said the work on Egencia will also support innovation across other parts of its business, including Complete and Neo.

Business travel shifts toward more connected booking and expense systems

The move also reflects a broader push in business travel to connect booking, spend control, and reporting more tightly. As companies look for fewer manual steps and better visibility over travel costs, the value is shifting from standalone booking tools to more integrated travel and expense systems that can automate reporting, improve compliance, and give finance teams cleaner data.

The launch also follows a strategy Amex GBT had earlier, when it said Egencia would return in early 2026 with stronger AI search, a redesigned customer experience, and closer integration with SAP Concur Expense. At the time, the company positioned the changes as part of a broader effort to modernize its technology stack, offer more personalized support during the travel journey, and connect booking more directly with expense reporting for both travelers and finance teams.
