Route deal
A route deal is a negotiated agreement between an airline and a corporate client, travel management company (TMC), or travel agency that provides discounted airfares on specific routes. These deals are usually based on expected booking volume and are meant to secure consistent traffic for the airline while allowing the client to manage its travel expenses.
Route deals are common in corporate travel programs where companies frequently fly between fixed city pairs. The airline agrees to offer reduced rates or value-added services on those routes in exchange for preferred booking status or a minimum number of tickets purchased over time.
These fares may not always be the lowest fare routing, but—depending on the agreement—they may offer more flexibility and better conditions, such as easier changes or refunds.
Route deals help airlines forecast demand and improve load factor on key routes while thy help buyers plan their travel budgets.
