Reconfirmation

Reconfirmation is the process of a traveler or travel agent verifying with the airline that a booked flight is still confirmed and that the passenger intends to travel as scheduled.

This practice helps airlines prevent no-shows and provides an accurate picture of expected passenger numbers. For passengers, reconfirmation also serves as a safeguard, ensuring that their reservation is active and that no inadvertent cancellations, schedule changes, or booking errors have occurred.

Many airlines have specific policies requiring reconfirmation within a defined period, usually 24 to 72 hours before the flight. Airlines often send reminders via email, text, or notifications to prompt passengers to complete reconfirmation.
