Half board (HB)

Half board (HB) is a type of a hotel rate that, besides the room itself, has two meals (usually breakfast and dinner) included. Most hotels serve such meals as buffets but it can also be a set menu with several options for each meal. Sometimes a take-out option is also available. Drinks are usually included with breakfast and have to be paid for separately with other courses.

Other rate types are full board (FB) when three meals without drinks are included and all-inclusive when all meals, snacks, and drinks are included.

Upgrading an HB to FB or all-inclusive package can be a part of the hotel upselling strategy aimed at driving additional revenue.
