About AltexSoft
AltexSoft is looking for a Senior Data Acquisition R&D Engineer to join a long-term project within the hospitality technology domain. You will work on advanced data extraction pipelines that collect massive volumes of structured and unstructured data from a wide variety of online sources. This role is suited for an engineer who enjoys digging deep into how the web works, solving technical challenges at scale, and pushing the limits of web data acquisition technologies. You will take part in researching, designing, and optimizing extraction approaches, collaborating with distributed engineering teams, and contributing to a highly scalable data-collection infrastructure that processes hundreds of millions of daily requests.
About Project
The project focuses on developing and improving a large-scale data acquisition platform that gathers pricing and market information from hundreds of online sources. This system handles nearly 200 million requests per day and serves as the backbone for multiple analytics and revenue management products. The engineering work involves researching new extraction techniques, optimizing browser-based and API-driven crawlers, enhancing stability and performance, and ensuring the entire pipeline remains scalable and resilient. The team operates with modern cloud infrastructure, containerized environments, and distributed architectures to reliably deliver high-quality data for the customer’s product ecosystem.
You Have
- 5+ years of experience developing real production solutions using Python, TypeScript/NodeJS, or Rust
- Practical experience with web scraping tools or frameworks, such as Scrapy, or building your own extraction scripts and pipelines
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: networking basics, browser technologies, reverse engineering of websites or mobile apps, or working with anti-bot systems
- Experience working with cloud platforms and containerized environments, preferably Google Cloud and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and the ability to use them for debugging and performance checks
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with large-scale data extraction, proxies, browser or user-agent emulation, and distributed systems
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with engineering teams
- English proficiency for daily communication
- Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in day-to-day development tasks
Would be a plus
- Background in mentoring engineers or supporting knowledge growth inside a team
- Contributions to open-source projects, technical articles, workshops, or public conference talks
- Strong interest in web security topics and how they apply to data extraction environments
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus or Grafana
- Experience with cloud-native environments such as Google Cloud or Kubernetes
- Experience building AI-powered solutions or integrating AI pipelines/APIs into software projects
You Are Going To
- Drive research and development of advanced approaches for large-scale web data extraction
- Explore, validate, and apply new techniques in browser automation, reverse engineering, and anti-bot evasion
- Tackle complex acquisition challenges such as user-agent and browser emulation, efficient proxy usage, request routing, and load distribution
- Contribute to the enhancement of a large-scale data acquisition infrastructure, ensuring its stability, performance, and scalability
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to diagnose issues, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and improve extraction workflows
- Act as a subject-matter expert, sharing knowledge and elevating the team’s technical capability
