Vrbo Upgrades Traveler Protections, Triples Rebooking Window

Vrbo has rolled out an update to its traveler protections with VrboCare, a new policy package designed to make vacation rental bookings safer and more reliable.
The program introduces broader coverage for host cancellations, check-in issues, fraud, and property misrepresentations.
One of the most notable changes is the extension of the rebooking window from 30 to 90 days before check-in, allowing travelers more time and flexibility if issues arise before their stay.
Under VrboCare, guests will also receive 24/7 support during their trip, as well as assistance with rebooking or refunds when hosts cancel unexpectedly or when travelers face problems during check-in.
VrboCare also strengthens protection against fraudulent listings and misleading property descriptions.
The new policies can be seen as part of a wider industry shift toward traveler-first protections.
Airbnb, for example, recently launched its own guest-friendly updates, including removing service fees, introducing a “reserve now, pay later” option, adding in-app messaging tools for travelers, and improving its AI-powered search and map features.
