Spring Hotels Group Makes Record-Breaking $500M Acquisition of Mare Nostrum Resort

On June 30, 2025, Spring Hotels Group acquired the Mare Nostrum Resort in Tenerife for €430 million (~$507 million), marking the largest single-asset hotel transaction in Spanish history.
The deal encompasses three hotels (Mediterranean Palace, Sir Anthony, and Cleopatra Palace), Hard Rock Café, La Palapa Beach Club, and the largest event venue in southern Tenerife, the Pirámide de Arona.
Under its previous owner, Selenta Group, the Mare Nostrum Resort underwent a €56 million renovation, modernizing over 1,000 rooms across the three hotels. This upgrade, completed before the peak summer season, positioned the resort to capitalize on high tourist demand, thereby enhancing its profitability (boosted RevPAR, reflecting a 91 percent growth last year) and appeal to potential buyers.
The acquisition doubles Spring Hotels' portfolio, now including six hotel properties and totaling over 2,300 rooms. Spring Hotels initially managed three properties: Arona Gran Hotel, Spring Hotel Vulcano, and Hotel Bitácora.
