SAP Concur Expands AI and Visa Links to Automate Travel Spending

SAP Concur announced a new set of updates focused on automation and tighter workflow integration.

The company introduced two AI agents for expense management, expanded Joule’s connection with Microsoft 365 Copilot, launched a new Visa partnership, and shared new progress in its partnership with American Express Global Business Travel.

SAP Concur’s larger goal. It wants employees to manage travel, payments, and expenses inside the tools they already use, instead of switching between separate systems.

The new AI tools are designed to reduce routine expense work

The two new AI agents focus on one of the most time-consuming parts of business travel: expense reporting.

The Expense Automation Agent is designed to prepare expense reports for employees, while the Expense Pre-Submit Audit Agent checks receipts and flags possible problems before submission.

SAP Concur is also embedding travel tasks into everyday work software

SAP Concur said Joule is being integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot so employees can complete some travel and expense tasks directly inside Microsoft applications.

The company is also connecting Joule with SAP Sales Cloud, allowing sales teams to book travel for customer visits without leaving their CRM workflow.

Payments and virtual cards are becoming a bigger part of the platform

SAP Concur also announced a new partnership with Visa. The goal is to use real-time card transaction data to automatically create expense items in Concur Expense.

The company also expanded virtual card capabilities for joint SAP and American Express customers in Concur Expense. Virtual cards can help companies control spending more closely and reduce out-of-pocket costs for travelers.

The complete vision starts taking shape

This latest update adds more substance to SAP Concur’s earlier Complete strategy with Amex GBT, which was first presented as a way to bring booking, servicing, payments, and expense management into one connected experience.

The new Fusion announcements suggest that vision is now starting to take clearer shape, even though several major features are still being rolled out.
