Over 150 Flights Affected by Alaska 3-Hour System Outage

On July 20, 2025, Alaska Airlines experienced a major system outage, grounding its entire fleet for three hours.
Operations were halted around 8 p.m. PT, affecting Alaska and Horizon Air flights. The issue was confirmed to be hardware-related and not linked to a cyberattack.
Though flights resumed by 11 p.m. PT, the disruption caused over 150 cancellations and ongoing delays into the next day, particularly due to aircraft and crew repositioning.
In response, Alaska offered rebooking, hotel accommodations, meal vouchers, and alternative carrier arrangements for disrupted customers. The airline is now working to replace the faulty hardware with its third-party vendor.
