Ixigo Turns Its Travel App Into an AI Assistant for the Whole Trip

Ixigo launched a redesigned AI-native travel app, adding a new version of TARA, its AI travel assistant.
The assistant is built into the app and can respond through voice, text, or tap. It supports English, Hindi, and Hinglish, which makes it more useful for India’s multilingual travel market.
TARA can understand natural-language travel requests, so users can ask for hotel searches, trip ideas, itineraries, and recommendations without moving through many filters. Ixigo said the assistant can also personalize results using a traveler’s past bookings, preferences, and behavior.
The app is designed for the full trip, not only booking
Online travel agencies are moving beyond price comparison and checkout. Ixigo wants the app to help travelers before and during the trip, including with airport details, travel alerts, boarding passes, and schedule changes.
Trip Mode keeps travel details in one view
The app includes Trip Mode, a feature that collects key trip information such as boarding passes, gate and terminal details, baggage claim updates, and travel alerts. Ixigo said it can also suggest when travelers should leave for the airport using live traffic information.
This makes the app more useful after a booking is complete. Many travel problems happen close to departure or during the journey, when travelers need fast updates. A single view for important trip details can reduce confusion and help users react more quickly.
Agentic AI can act in the background
Ixigo is also adding Agentic Travel Flows. These AI-powered workflows can complete selected tasks with the traveler’s permission. They can send boarding passes through WhatsApp, update passes in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and monitor flights for delays or cancellations.
The company said the agents can also coordinate with hotels before check-in to confirm whether a room is ready. This shows the next step for AI in travel: moving from answering questions to completing small service tasks that travelers usually handle manually.
Ixigo is building on its ChatGPT push
The launch follows Ixigo’s recent move into ChatGPT. In April 2026, the company launched ChatGPT apps for ixigo, AbhiBus, and ConfirmTkt, allowing users to search flights, hotels, trains, and buses through conversational prompts before completing bookings on ixigo’s own platforms.
