Google Adds Restaurant Booking to AI Search in the UK

Google has launched a new restaurant booking feature in the UK through AI Mode in Search, its AI-powered search experience for more detailed and conversational queries.
The update allows users to search for restaurants in natural language and move toward a reservation in the same flow.
This changes Google’s role in the booking journey. Search has long helped people find restaurants and compare options. Now it is also helping them narrow choices and take action faster.
Google turns detailed dining searches into bookable results
The feature is designed to make restaurant search easier and more natural. Instead of using a few short keywords, users can describe exactly what they want, including cuisine, location, timing, group size, or dietary needs. Google then shows matching restaurants with booking options.
Google is not replacing booking platforms
Reservations are still made through third-party platforms rather than directly through Google.
In the UK, Google says the feature works with partners including OpenTable, TheFork, SevenRooms, ResDiary, DesignMyNight, Mozrest, Foodhub, and Dojo.
The update points to a bigger shift in travel and hospitality
This launch is part of Google’s broader push to make AI Search more useful for real tasks, including building travel plans with Canvas in AI Mode, refining trips through follow-up prompts, and supporting more action-oriented search experiences that move users closer to booking.
Google is testing travel ads inside AI Mode and building a search experience where users can compare options, refine decisions, and move closer to booking within the same conversational flow.
