Boeing to Reacquire Spirit AeroSystems for $4.7B

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has granted approval for Boeing’s acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, concluding that it would not harm competition in the UK aerospace sector.
The European Commission is still reviewing the deal, with a final decision expected by September 30, 2025.
In July 2024, Boeing announced plans to reacquire Spirit AeroSystems, its former subsidiary, through an all-stock transaction valued at $4.7 billion.
Under the agreement, Airbus will take over Spirit’s European operations, which have been less profitable.
By reintegrating Spirit, Boeing aims to have greater control over its aerostructures supply chain, potentially cutting costs and minimizing delays caused by outsourcing. The deal is also seen as a move to address past quality concerns that affected Boeing aircraft programs.
