Apple has announced a new collaboration with Delta Air Lines.

Together, the two companies developed an integration tool that funnels Apple AirTag location data directly into Delta’s baggage handling systems through a dedicated API.

This system builds on Apple’s Share Item Location feature, introduced last year, which already enables airlines to leverage AirTag data to help locate misplaced bags. The new API enhances this capability by delivering real-time, detailed location information directly to Delta’s systems.

Importantly, Apple’s tool doesn’t replace existing airline tracking platforms. Instead, it works in parallel with them, boosting accuracy and reducing the time it takes to pinpoint a bag’s location.

Delta collaborated closely with Apple throughout development, inviting engineers to some of its busiest airports so they could refine the technology and eliminate delays in identifying luggage.

Travelers who use AirTags can now view more precise, real-time bag updates in the Find My app, while Delta’s ground teams receive more accurate data, enabling them to resolve baggage issues faster.

The technology is designed to be scalable and can be adopted by other airlines, creating a more connected ecosystem for global baggage management.

Additionally, Apple has been enhancing its travel tools in other areas. Earlier in 2025, the company upgraded Apple Wallet with several new travel-friendly features in the iOS 26 update. Boarding passes now display live updates, including gate changes and flight status, directly on the lock screen. Travelers can also access airport terminal maps instantly, making it easier to find gates, lounges, and baggage claim areas.
