Amadeus Adds AI Commerce as Hotels Fight to Stay Visible in Search

Amadeus announced that it is expanding its hospitality technology portfolio with two new AI tools for hotels.
One is an AI commerce solution that helps hotels appear and sell rooms through AI-powered travel channels. The other is Amadeus Max, an AI assistant designed to help hotel teams work faster across Amadeus products.
The launch comes as travelers start using AI tools for more parts of trip planning. Instead of only searching on hotel websites, online travel agencies, or search engines, some travelers now ask AI assistants to compare hotels, suggest stays, and answer booking questions. Amadeus wants to help hotels stay visible in these new channels while keeping control of prices, availability, and booking rules.
AI Commerce helps hotels sell through assistants
Amadeus’ AI commerce solution is built for a future where a traveler can move from a question to a hotel booking inside an AI conversation. For example, a traveler might ask for a hotel near a conference venue or a family-friendly resort with breakfast included. The AI system could then show options and help move the guest closer to booking.
A hotel booking depends on live room availability, rate rules, taxes, cancellation policies, loyalty details, and payment steps. If the AI tool uses old or incomplete information, the guest may see the wrong offer. Amadeus is trying to reduce that risk by connecting AI channels with hotel systems that already manage reservations and distribution.
Google’s UCP adds a standard for AI booking
Amadeus is also working with Google and other partners on the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) for Lodging. Google describes UCP as an open standard for agentic commerce, meaning it helps AI systems complete transactions more directly instead of only giving recommendations.
Hotels need to know that rates are correct, rooms are actually available, and cancellation terms are shown properly. They also need to understand how payments and the customer relationship are handled. A shared standard could make AI booking less fragmented for hotels, travelers, and technology providers.
Amadeus max brings AI into hotel workflows
Amadeus Max is aimed at hotel employees rather than guests. It lets hotel teams ask questions in plain language and use insights from Amadeus products without manually moving through several tools.
The first live version, Amadeus Max for Advisor, works with Amadeus travel intelligence products such as Demand360, Agency360, and RevenueStrategy360. These tools help hotels understand market demand, agency booking trends, and revenue opportunities. Amadeus also plans to bring Max into advertising, sales, and meetings and events, where it could help hotels review group requests, check availability, and prepare faster proposals.
This is not Amadeus’ first move toward AI-led booking. The company acquired SkyLink, a US startup focused on AI-powered corporate travel booking, to add more conversational booking capabilities to its products. The new hospitality AI rollout shows the same strategy moving deeper into hotels, where Amadeus wants AI to support discovery, booking, direct channels, and daily commercial workflows.
