Alaska Airlines Launches First Direct Flight to Europe in 2026

Alaska Airlines has announced the launch date for its first-ever nonstop route to Europe, marking a major milestone in the carrier’s international growth strategy.
Starting April 28, 2026, the airline will operate nonstop service between Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). Tickets for the seasonal route are now available for purchase.
The service will initially operate four times a week, with daily flights scheduled during the peak summer travel season.
This new route represents Alaska’s first direct connection to Europe, extending the carrier’s network beyond its traditional North American and Asian markets. Rome was selected based on strong traveler demand and has ranked among the most requested destinations by members of Alaska’s Mileage Plan loyalty program.
Passengers on the new route can expect Alaska Airlines’ premium long-haul offerings, including lie-flat business-class seating, enhanced in-flight services, and access to Alaska Lounges for eligible travelers.
In 2026, Alaska Airlines also plans to introduce year-round service to London Heathrow and seasonal service to Reykjavik, Iceland, highlighting its commitment to expanding international connectivity.
Meanwhile, Alaska Air Group, the airline’s parent company, recently posted record revenue of $3.8 billion for the third quarter of 2025 and forecasts continued growth, including a projected 2–3 percent increase in overall capacity and improvements in unit revenue.
