Airbnb’s Hotel Hiring Spree Signals a New Era in Lodging

According to Skift, Airbnb has listed around 180 new hotel management roles in several regions, including the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, signaling a decisive move toward expanding its global hotel inventory.
This marks a significant shift from being primarily a rental service to a comprehensive accommodation platform.
CEO Brian Chesky noted that Airbnb will continue to grow its home rentals while simultaneously increasing hotel listings (particularly independent and boutique hotels), especially outside North America.
For Q2 2025, Airbnb reported revenues of $3.1 billion, representing a 13 percent year-over-year growth, driven by 134 million booked nights and experiences worldwide.
Still, Airbnb faces increasing competition from traditional hotels and OTAs. Chesky notes that hotel integration will address this issue while responding to traveler demands for more diverse lodging options.
Additionally, Airbnb is expected to launch a new loyalty or membership program as part of its push into the hotel business. The company executives emphasized that this program will be more distinctive than conventional hotel loyalty offerings.
