Airbnb Summit Aims to Address New Host Policies Backlash

Airbnb has announced its first-ever Host Summit, an invite-only event for professional hosts in North America.
The summit will be held at Airbnb's San Francisco headquarters from September 30 to October 2, 2025.
The event is scheduled in response to rising tensions between hosts and the platform, primarily driven by recent policy changes that many hosts believe unfairly favor guests at their expense.
In August 2025, Airbnb introduced a new payment option called Reserve Now, Pay Later for American travelers. This allows users to book accommodations without upfront payment if the listing offers a flexible or moderate cancellation policy.
In the same month, Airbnb announced that hosts would be automatically transitioned from the current split-fee model, where service fees are shared between hosts and guests, to a new single-fee structure. Under this update, the entire service fee will be consolidated into a single host-only fee charged at a flat rate of 15.5 percent.
The National Host Summit will provide a platform for Airbnb to engage directly with hosts and address concerns.
