Agoda's New MCP Server Turns Natural Language Into API Calls

Frame

Digital travel platform and OTA Agoda has released its API Agent as an open-source tool, making it freely available to developers worldwide.

The API Agent functions as a universal Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, designed to connect MCP-compatible AI clients with both GraphQL and REST-based services through natural language commands.

Simplifying multi-service integration for development teams

Agoda built a single, centralized API Agent that can work across dozens of services at once. This reduces infrastructure overhead and makes it easier for organizations to scale AI-driven tools.

Instead of developers having to build and maintain a separate integration for every single API, this tool acts as a common layer that allows AI systems to communicate with many services in a standardized way.

Turning natural language into structured API calls

The API Agent is designed to make technical interactions feel more conversational.

Developers first configure the system to point at a specific target service. After that, they can ask questions or make requests in natural language rather than writing detailed API calls. The server automatically reads and interprets the service’s schema, constructs the correct queries, and executes them.

The results are returned in structured formats, all without requiring manual field mapping or custom integration code, which can significantly reduce development time and errors.

Advanced data handling through built-in SQL processing

To extend functionality beyond basic queries, the API Agent incorporates SQL-based post-processing powered by DuckDB. This allows developers to perform operations such as sorting data, aggregating results, and joining information from different sources, even if the original APIs do not support those features directly.
