Virtual corporate card
A virtual corporate card is a digital payment method issued by a company to its employees specifically for business expenses.
Instead of carrying a physical card, the traveler is provided with a secure, single-use or limited-use card number that can be used for online or in-app payments.
For example, a company generates a virtual corporate card for a specific need, such as booking a flight or paying a vendor. Once the transaction is completed, the card automatically becomes invalid.
Virtual corporate cards enhance security, control spending, and simplify expense management. They reduce the risk of lost or stolen cards, allow companies to set precise limits on transaction amounts and merchant categories, and ensure that expenditures are immediately linked to a specific trip, project, or budget.
However, virtual cards are not universally accepted and cannot be used at physical terminals. That’s why traditional corporate cards are still necessary for on-the-ground travel needs.
