Ticket reissue

Ticket reissue refers to the process of modifying an existing airline ticket to reflect changes in the itinerary or passenger details without issuing an entirely new ticket through canceling and rebooking.

This process is common when travel details, such as shifting dates, routes, or even class of service, change after the ticket has been issued.

Ticket reissue may also include compensation depending on the airline and fare rules.

For example, a passenger with a refundable Delta Air Lines ticket changes their trip to a different date. If the new flight costs less than the original, the fare difference is refunded in the original form of payment at the time of reissue. If the new flight is more expensive, the passenger pays the additional amount during the reissue process.

This is not to be confused with revalidation, where the original ticket remains valid for travel even though it contains outdated information.
