Through passenger

A through passenger is a traveler who continues to their final destination after a stop, without changing their booking or e-ticket, even if the journey includes multiple legs or stops. The trip is covered under one Passenger Name Record (PNR) and managed as a single itinerary.

For example, a traveler flying from New York → Dubai → Bangkok on one booking is a through passenger. When the plane stops in Dubai, others get off, but the traveler going to Bangkok continues under the same ticket.

This differs from a circle trip or separate bookings, where travelers might need to recheck baggage and obtain new boarding passes. Through passengers benefit from seamless interline agreements or codeshare partnerships between airlines.

The concept of through passengers is not limited to air travel. It also applies to other modes of transportation, such as rail, bus, etc.
