A destination wedding is a wedding held away from the couple’s hometown. 

Instead of just inviting people to a local church or hall, the couple and their guests travel to another city or country where the ceremony, celebration, and sometimes group activities are staged over several days.

A destination wedding may combine the wedding and honeymoon for the couple and encourages guests to share an extended celebration rather than attend a single-evening event.
