Condo hotel (condotel)

A condo hotel (also condotel, hotel condo, or contel) is a combination of a condominium and a hotel in the sense that some or all of the rooms/units in such buildings are sold to individuals but are still considered part of the hotel inventory. 

Room owners typically buy units in such properties as secondary residences, stay there when on vacation, and then leverage the marketing and management done by the hotel brand to rent them out for the rest of the time. This way, they get rental profit when they don’t use the room and avoid the management hassle.

Condo hotels offer many services and amenities typical for traditional hotels, such as front desk, housekeeping, room service, concierge, pools, fitness centers, restaurants, etc.
