FITUR 2026, the International Tourism Trade Fair, has been scheduled to take place from January 21 to January 25, 2026, at IFEMA Madrid in Spain. The upcoming edition will feature one of the largest US representations in the event’s history.

FITUR’s role in the global travel industry

FITUR is one of the world’s most influential tourism trade fairs, bringing together travel suppliers, technology providers, and policymakers from across the globe. The 2025 edition attracted more than 255,000 visitors and over 9,500 companies from 156 countries.

The event serves as a high-level networking and deal-making platform. Airlines, hotel groups, tour operators, and destination marketing organizations use FITUR to negotiate partnerships, plan market expansion, and exchange insights on trends shaping global travel.

Major hotel brands such as Hilton, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, and Marriott Bonvoy regularly attend, alongside travel tech providers like Cloudbeds, ESCALABEDS, and RateHawk.

Expanding US–Spain tourism ties

FITUR 2026 is expected to further strengthen tourism flows between the US and Spain. The US delegation will be notably broad, including organizations such as Visit USA Spain, Visit Florida, Visit Lauderdale, Explore Louisiana, and Visit Orlando, as well as private-sector companies across lodging and travel technology.

This expanded presence shows that US travel brands are actively seeking closer ties with European partners. American travelers are also among Spain’s higher-spending visitor segments, making the US a strategically important source market.

The increased international outreach aligns with wider efforts to promote US tourism globally. Lawmakers recently introduced the Visit USA Act, which would restore Brand USA’s federal budget to $100 million. This funding is essential as the US prepares for global events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics, both expected to drive significant inbound travel demand.
