As Super Typhoon Ragasa approaches, Hong Kong has suspended flights for about 36 hours and expects around 700 flight cancellations, primarily between the evening of September 23 and the morning of September 25.

This is the period when Ragasa is forecasted to be closest to Hong Kong, reducing visibility and threatening airport operations.

Airlines warn that additional delays and cancellations may occur depending on evolving weather conditions and the typhoon’s trajectory. Given the extended grounding period, passengers have been advised to prepare for alternative arrangements.

The Hong Kong Observatory has classified Ragasa as a super typhoon, equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane. Such storms can down trees and power lines, disrupt transportation, and severely damage infrastructure.

The Hong Kong Observatory continues to monitor the typhoon, issuing warnings and updates to keep the public informed.

Earlier this month, Tropical Storm Tapah struck near Taishan city in southern China, resulting in school closures, public transit suspensions, and temporary halts in ferry services. The storm also affected air travel, with about 100 flights canceled at Hong Kong International Airport.
