Japan Offers UK/EU Travelers Free Domestic Flights

The Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), in collaboration with All Nippon Airways (ANA), has launched a new campaign offering UK and European travelers up to two free domestic flights within Japan.

The program, which began on November 24, 2025, and runs through January 31, 2026, allows eligible passengers to book complimentary flights across ANA’s extensive network with more than 40 domestic hubs.

While the fares are free, travelers are still responsible for taxes, airport charges, and other mandatory fees, and the number of available seats is limited.

The initiative is designed to encourage visitors to explore beyond Japan’s most crowded destinations, such as Tokyo and Kyoto. By offering access to regions like Tohoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa, the program aims to disperse tourist traffic more evenly, reduce strain on over-visited areas, and generate additional economic activity in regional communities.

This promotion is part of ANA’s broader "Stopover & Add-on Free Fare" initiative, which allows economy-class passengers from the UK and Europe to add domestic flights at no additional fare cost. By enabling multi-stop itineraries within Japan, the offer makes it more convenient for travelers to customize their trips.

The campaign supports Japan’s national tourism goals, which include promoting sustainable travel practices and revitalizing regional areas through increased visitor spending.

Japan is not alone in using free flights as a tourism strategy. Thailand introduced a similar program from September to November 2025, offering free round-trip domestic flights to 200,000 foreign travelers as part of a government plan to boost tourism and support local economies.
