Hilton Signs 125 Hotels in India, Bets On Midscale Boom

Hilton, in partnership with Royal Orchid Hotels, has signed an agreement to develop 125 Hampton by Hilton hotels across India. This deal represents one of the most significant expansions of the Hampton brand in a single market.
The hotels will operate under a franchise model.
Focus on the fast-growing upper midscale segment
The new properties will target the upper midscale segment, which is currently one of the fastest-growing categories in India’s hospitality market. This segment is being driven by the country’s expanding middle class, rising disposable incomes, and a steady increase in domestic travel.
More Indian travelers are now seeking reliable, branded hotel experiences that offer consistent quality at accessible price points.
Strategic location rollout across key states
The planned hotels will be distributed across several high-demand regions, including Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. These states represent a mix of business hubs, tourism hotspots, and emerging travel destinations, ensuring strong demand across different traveler segments.
With this expansion, Hilton will further strengthen its global Hampton brand, which already includes more than 3,100 properties worldwide.
Overall, the agreement also marks Hilton’s third major partnership in India, reinforcing its strategy of growing through flexible franchise arrangements across multiple projects.
Hilton highlights India as a long-term growth market
Hilton executives emphasized that India is becoming a key focus for the company’s global growth strategy. Christian Charnaux, Hilton’s Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, added that the company sees strong long-term potential in India’s midmarket hotel segment and remains confident in its continued growth.
Other global hotel groups are also accelerating their investments in the country. For example, IHG Hotels & Resorts recently announced plans to expand its presence in India significantly, with a target of more than 400 hotels either open or under development in the coming years.
