Google and Amadeus Reunite to Power Airline Retail Tech

In May 2025, Amadeus announced a collaboration with Google to adopt Google Cloud technologies.

Through this partnership, Amadeus will

  • migrate part of its platform to Google Cloud,
  • unify data across its diverse customer systems,
  • tap into a wide range of LLMs via Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, and
  • explore Agentic AI, considering an integration into its solutions.

During Amadeus’ 2025 Q2 earnings call, on July 31, CEO Luis Maroto said the goal is to deepen their footprint in airline retail technology through closer alignment with Google's retail and cloud infrastructure.

The two companies plan to integrate Amadeus MetaConnect (a suite of solutions for metasearch distribution) and Amadeus Nevio (a cloud-native airline retailing platform) with Google Flights and QPX (Google’s airfare search and pricing engine, developed by ITA Software). The goal is to improve flight search accuracy and airline offer management.

This is not the first time the two companies have worked together. Back in 1998, Amadeus signed a licensing agreement with ITA Software (now part of Google), giving it access to ITA’s fare-pricing engine under strict usage terms.

Earlier in July, Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Saudia, began the deployment of Amadeus Nevio, moving away from its legacy Altéa PSS system.
