Flix, the Germany-based long-distance bus and rail operator, has acquired a majority stake in Luxembourg-based airport transfer platform Flibco for an undisclosed amount.

About Flibco

Flibco currently operates airport connections across seven European countries: Belgium, Germany, France, the UK, Hungary, Italy, and Sweden. It serves major hubs such as Brussels Zaventem, Brussels Charleroi, and Amsterdam Schiphol.

Flibco will continue to operate independently under CEO Tobias Stüber, with its headquarters remaining in Luxembourg. The company confirmed that staffing levels and day-to-day operations will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for existing customers and partners.

Flibco’s former owner, SLG, previously known as Sales-Lentz Group, will retain a minority stake and continue as a strategic partner.

Strategic fit and growth ambitions

Flix CEO André Schwämmlein said the deal reflects rising demand for affordable and reliable airport connectivity, leveraging Flibco’s strong local partnerships and Flix’s technology platform and scale.

Over time, Flix plans to integrate Flibco services into the Flix app, allowing customers to book combined tickets that include long-distance buses and airport shuttles in a single transaction.

Looking ahead to future airport transfers

Beyond traditional ground services for airport transfers, Mohan Das, CEO and Founder of NuFlights, expects air taxis to gain more attention in 2026. He believes airlines will begin integrating this new transport layer into their core offerings, positioning it as a premium service for first and business class passengers.
