Finnair Launches SAF Program to Track Emission Cuts

Finnair has announced the launch of its “Finnair for Business SAF” program, designed for corporate customers to monitor emission reductions linked to their purchases of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Companies can view the actual flight emissions of their business trips and receive audited SAF certificates verified by a third party.
The program utilizes a “book-and-claim” approach, meaning that although the SAF itself is not physically loaded onto the flights taken by the companies, the environmental benefits are still credited to them. Instead, the emission savings are proportionally allocated based on the total SAF volumes acquired by Finnair.
While SAF accounted for only about 0.46 percent of Finnair’s jet fuel consumption in 2024, the airline plans to increase the share of SAF on its flights over the coming years.
This announcement сomes just a day after the GBTA Foundation launched SAF Corporate Connect, a collaboration hub designed to accelerate the adoption of SAF in the corporate travel sector.
