Etihad Airways Doubles Amsterdam Flights

Etihad Airways is set to double its flights between Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam for a six-week period in early 2026, marking another step in the airline’s rapid growth strategy driven by new aircraft deliveries and rising winter-season demand.
Beginning February 1 through March 15, 2026, Etihad will operate two daily flights to the Dutch capital—up from its longstanding once-daily service. The added rotation will be flown by the carrier’s new Airbus A321LR, complementing the existing Airbus A350 widebody service.
The move comes during a year of significant fleet and network expansion for Etihad. In mid-2025, the carrier took delivery of its first A321LR, a single-aisle long-range jet that enables efficient deployment on mid-demand European routes. Around the same time, Etihad surpassed 300 daily passenger flights, reflecting its roughly 20 percent year-over-year growth.
Industry trends also support Etihad's timing. The Europe–Middle East corridor is forecast to lead global intercontinental capacity growth for winter 2025–26, driven by Gulf carriers adding flights to capitalize on demand for connecting traffic. By adding a second daily Amsterdam service, Etihad strengthens its competitive position at a key European gateway.
While the increase is currently scheduled as a seasonal boost, it signals the airline’s broader intention to scale up in markets where demand—and new aircraft—allow.
For travelers, the expanded Amsterdam service provides improved connection opportunities, particularly for those heading to South and Southeast Asia.
Earlier this autumn, Qatar Airways expanded its codeshare agreement with IAG brands Aer Lingus and Level to include 18 more transatlantic routes to the US.
