British Airways Signs SAF Deal to Reduce 80% Emissions

On June 30, 2025, British Airways signed a multi‑year sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply agreement with EcoCeres, a renewable fuels company.
This deal supports BA’s goal of fueling 10 percent of all its commercial flights with SAF by 2030 and advancing its net-zero emissions by 2050.
The SAF will be produced entirely from waste-based biomass, particularly used cooking oil. Compared to fossil jet fuel, the plan is expected to achieve an estimated 80 percent lifecycle reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
BA used SAF for 2.7 percent of its fuel in 2024, achieving a 13 percent reduction in carbon intensity since 2019.
The agreement is projected to cut 400,000 tons of CO₂ annually.
