Another Company Bets on AI Agents: Kayak Launches AI Mode

Kayak, a metasearch owned by Booking Holdings, has launched AI Mode, a natural language search feature powered by ChatGPT.
AI Mode can be found on Kayak’s homepage, alongside traditional navigation options such as Flights, Stays, Packages, and Cars.
It connects Kayak’s travel data with ChatGPT’s language model to deliver real-time search results from hundreds of travel providers.
This integration enables travelers to phrase their inquiries in natural language and receive tailored recommendations.
AI Mode aims to streamline trip planning, allowing users to find prices, discover new destinations, and modify their itineraries all in one place.
About a week ago, Booking.com introduced its first AI agents that gather relevant information about partners, properties, and reservations and then autonomously decide what to suggest to users.
Travel businesses, particularly OTAs, are increasingly launching their own AI assistants designed to make trip planning and management easier. Check out our explainer about AI travel agents that explores how OTAs are gearing up to compete with large language model (LLM) providers.
