American and Porter Get US DOT Approval, Launch Codeshare

American Airlines has announced a new codeshare partnership with Porter Airlines, a Canadian carrier. Now, travelers can book flights operated by either airline under a single ticket.
The joint request to establish a codeshare agreement was approved by the US DOT two months after it was submitted.
The agreement initially places American’s code on Porter flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to five Canadian cities: Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa, Victoria, and Winnipeg.
In the coming weeks, the partnership will expand to cover six more Canadian airports: Calgary, Charlottetown, Kelowna, St. John’s, Saskatoon, and Vancouver.
Additionally, American codeshares on Porter’s cross-border flights from Toronto to Phoenix, Arizona (PHX), with plans to add more US-Canada routes.
Porter’s code will also appear on American flights, including Southern US and Caribbean destinations.
