American and Porter Airlines to Expand Canada–US Ties

On July 25, 2025, American Airlines and Canada’s Porter Airlines submitted a joint request to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to establish a codeshare agreement.
Porter will be able to sell American’s domestic and international flights via Canadian gateways like Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, and Montreal.
In return, American gains feeder traffic into major hubs such as Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, and Charlotte.
This agreement will strengthen American’s position against United-Air Canada and Delta–WestJet alliances in the Canada–US corridor.
The agreement is pending DOT approval and is expected to conclude later in 2025.
