Amazon Brings Travel Booking to Alexa with Expedia’s Inventory

Amazon has revealed that its AI assistant Alexa+ will integrate with Expedia starting in 2026. The partnership will allow users to search, compare, book, and manage lodging reservations entirely through voice commands on Echo devices and compatible smart speakers.
This update marks a major step for Alexa+, turning it into a travel booking assistant.
How voice booking will work
Through the Expedia integration, users will be able to ask Alexa+ travel-related questions such as finding hotels in a specific city, comparing prices, or checking availability for certain dates. Alexa+ will surface personalized options from Expedia’s inventory of more than 700,000 properties worldwide, including hotels and vacation rentals.
Users will be able to refine searches conversationally by adjusting dates, setting budgets, requesting pet-friendly stays, or adding preferences like amenities or weather.
Alexa+ will also support follow-up actions such as modifying or canceling reservations.
Competitive pressure in online travel
Expedia, fresh off its Tiqets acquisition for experiences, will benefit from the partnership by gaining access to millions of Amazon’s US households. Voice-driven bookings could unlock new demand while generating richer data on traveler intent and preferences, supporting personalized upsells such as flights or car rentals.
More broadly, the move highlights the accelerating shift toward AI travel agents. As Amazon and Expedia push voice deeper into travel planning, other major platforms like Booking.com may feel pressure to form similar partnerships with competing assistants such as Google Assistant or Siri.
