Air India-Air Canada Codeshare Returns December 2025

Air India has announced that it will reinstate its codeshare agreement with fellow Star Alliance member Air Canada starting December 2, 2025.
The partnership had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, but its return is expected to significantly expand travel options and improve connectivity between India and Canada.
Under the renewed agreement, Air India will place its “AI” code on Air Canada-operated flights to five additional Canadian cities beyond its current access points in Vancouver and London Heathrow. The new destinations include Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Halifax.
In turn, Air Canada travelers will gain improved access to India’s domestic network, reaching major Indian cities such as Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kochi via Delhi, along with flights to both Delhi and Mumbai through London Heathrow.
The partnership offers convenience with single-ticket itineraries, unified baggage allowance, and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.
Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson noted that the agreement is valuable for more than two million people who travel between India and Canada every year.
This announcement comes at a moment of broader recovery in India’s air connectivity. India and China recently resumed direct commercial flights after a hiatus of more than five years, following a bilateral agreement reached in August 2025. IndiGo launched the first route on October 26 with its inaugural Kolkata–Guangzhou service.
